The Brachypelma auratum is a quite calmy spider. The poison of this species is not very dangerous and similar to the posion of bees, so the Brachypelma auratum is also suitable for beginners. But you have to exercise caution because the hairs of this spiders can cause irritaions of the eyes, skin and the respiratory tract.
When keeping this spider you have to mind that the ground should consist of a layer of peat (about 6-8cm).
Corc and and roots are often used as hiding-places. Although Brachypelma auratum is a nocturnal spider, it often stays at well visible places in the terrarium(ca. 40x20x30cm).
Brachypelma auratum can be fed with crickets, mealworms and grashoppers. Don t forget to have always a waterbowl filled with drinking water or watergel in the terrarium.
